Whenever we observe that Raelynn is about to have a seizure, we scan her Vagal Nerve Stimulator with the magnet we were given when the VNS was inserted into her chest. We can tell that a seizure is coming when she has a certain very characteristic look in her eyes. She often looks hard to the upper left or right. If we catch it early enough, we’ve noticed that it usually prevents her from having the seizure.
Vagus Nerve Stimulation is like a pacemaker for her brain. It sends regular impulses to her brain stem, which has been proven to help decrease many peoples’ seizures.
